Ballestrero vs Mayer

Page history last edited by Jesse Fewell 15 years ago

The Lead-In

  1. First, came the announcement that PMI CEO Greg Ballestrero would be keynoting the 2009 Scrum Gathering Orlando
  2. In reaction, Agile expert Tobias Mayer CST declared he felt "oppressed by PMI",
  3. Immediately, the Scrum community challenged him to elaborate further, which he did on his blog here in part 1 and here in part 2

Game Day

  1. After the keynote speech, Mayer introduced himself to Ballestrero, and the two dove into an hour-long collaborative brainstorm over project management
  2. Mayer was still unconvinced, and summarized his thoughts.

The Aftermath

  1. However, Ballestrero walked away from the conversation compelled by Mayer's call for value-driven management, and blogged about it.
  2. The post caught Mayer's attention, and he responded with a cautious, yet respectful, optimism

FYI - Tobias Mayer has moved his blog to: http://agileanarchy.wordpress.com/,

Thanks for the play-by-play. I can imagine this was an interesting conversation.

I've enjoyed reading Mayer's commentary. The tone reminds me of many Agile enthusiasts... a little arrogant, buit expressed with true heart. v

I wonder, does anyone knows if they did met again? any update on this discussion?

I would be very interested on hearing what became of that discussion...
